Background
User Research
We did an extensive survey with 90 respondents, allowing us to identify four key problems.
Thereby, we formed two personas, Sally and Pearline.
Market Analysis
Global, Asia, Singapore
The global skincare industry is $183 billion in 2020, and the Asian market is currently at $85 billion. Our beachhead will be Singapore because it is an affluent and accessible market, currently at $367 million. We see a huge potential in this market and hope to acquire 2,000 users in the 1st year.
Minimal Viable Product
User Testing
To validate our proposed value propositions, our team has created our MVP by letting interested users key in their skin type and products through a google form. Using our current database, we then generate a skin care report for them and further ask them for their feedback.

We found a range of skin types: 49% combination, 11% sensitive, 13% normal, 16% oily. 62% of the users found it useful to have a personalised report based on their needs, and being able to know what skincare products to not mix.
Refined solution
Introducing Senze
Based on the MVP feedback, we came to a higher fidelity solution.

Senze is a mobile-optimized web application. Senze will help consumers find suitable products based on their skin-type and skincare routine. Currently, we have a growing database of 30,000 products and 1,000 raw materials.
Technology
We use Natural Language Processing to identify raw materials of products and find common benefits of raw materials. With our growing data bank, we can conduct contextual analysis of the products. We also hope to create a smart matching algorithm to find the most compatible product and routine for consumers based on metrics such as skin type and price range.
Business model
Value Proposition
Senze targets both consumers and businesses. On the consumer side, Senze recommends suitable products and routine, thereby bridging the knowledge gap, saving time and money. On the business end, Senze allows brands to be discovered and provides the developed technology for R&D purposes. Beauty retailers also benefit from the advertising space and sales from cross selling.
Revenue & Cost
Senze runs on a freemium model, where our users can use our app for free on a trial period or subscribe for premium features. We also hope to generate revenue from businesses through advertisements, affiliate marketing, dataset sales and formulation consulting. Our set-up costs include web application development and cloud hosting, marketing cost and business development.
